BIOWENT® - Air Purification System |
APPLICATION
The BIOWENT® - air purification
system has been designed for removal of air volatile contaminants discharged
from municipal and industrial plants. Reduction of organic and inorganic
compounds, such as NH3, H2S, mercaptanes, amines, aldehydes, ketones, organic
acids etc. is possible due to application of proper filtration bed. The above
mentioned are compounds are typical odours emitted from waste water treatment
plant structures and appliances, pumping stations, food processing industry,
paint shops and foundries etc. The application of BIOWENT® system eliminates
unpleasant emiton of contaminants, which in practice means improvement of the
environment.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
In the biological process of air
purification odours are removed by means of specialized micro-organisms
immobilised into a natural bed. Such factors as the proper bed structure,
correctly chosen micro-organisms, size of appliances, humidity and temperature
influence on the process. The efficiency of biofiltration mainly depends on the
biofilter load. Correct biofilter designing leads to 100% odour reduction. Every
3-5 years, it is necessary to regenerate or exchange the biofilter bed. The old
used up material poses no threat to the environment because it could be
composted and then used directly as natural fertilizer.

STRUCTURE
The air purification system BIOWENT®
consists of a fan, a moistener and a biofilter. Contaminated air is forced by a
fan through a moistener where it reaches the necessary moisture content. Then
the air is passes through a biofilter containing selected micro-organisms where
pollutants are absorbed and undergo biodegradation. The purified air is
discharged to the atmosphere. The biofilter housing is made of GRP which
provides good strength, corrosion resistance and an aesthetic outlook.

The purification process parameters are controlled
automatically which decreases operational costs significantly. The system is
equipped with alarm detecting and informs about possible anomalies. Optionally
alarm signals can be transmitted to a remote operator by radio or phone lines.
The biofilter size depends on the air flow and concentration of pollutants and
is dimensioned so that full reduction of odour components can be achieved.
Biofilters can be extended during operation by adding modules.
